In ARC Raiders, how tactical is the fighting?

As a result, humanity has descended into anarchy and chaos. As we assume control of the main character and his group of ARCs, he explains to us how they plan to protect Earth from extraterrestrial invaders. It seems that our heroes’ attempts to stop the threat were unsuccessful, as you might have inferred from the trailer.

Every minute you stay increases your inventory and your exposure. I liked that the tension came from my decisions, not an external timer. Instead of slamming you with continuous pressure, the extraction component builds gradually. Rather, you control your personal sense of danger. The stakes naturally increased as my backpack began to fill with valuable items. You are not guided where to go by a shrinking circle. The emotional center of every run became the decision to push one more building or head for extraction.

Other times, I extracted early and watched the scoreboard fill with players who took bigger risks and earned bigger rewards. If you stay too long, you risk losing everything. We had to choose between trying to hold our ground and giving up on the extraction. They patrol, respond to noise, and occasionally show up at the most inconvenient time. It was one of the most intense moments I’ve experienced in the game, but we managed to pull it off. Your plans and your loot are unimportant to them. All of a sudden, we were fighting a massive machine that could destroy us in a matter of seconds rather than just other Raiders.

Nothing pushes you in a particular direction. Maps are open-ended, with multiple points of interest scattered around industrial ruins, forests, and broken infrastructure. I would frequently follow the sound of distant gunfire or the buy arc raiders coins machines’ mechanical groan to determine a direction. At other times, I purposefully avoided making noise, staying close to the edges and stealing from smaller areas before anyone else saw me. The world feels vibrant but manageable once deployed.

When you join a mission, these are your starting points. Where do I go to begin a mission? Each character’s inventory contains a holographic map that allows them to see every mission that is available. Pylon stations serve as new recruits’ initial point of contact upon arrival on the planet. Every character has a holographic map in their inventory where they can view all available missions.
